As a young lad living in London I was always fascinated with such wildlife as I could find around me on both Mitcham and Wimbledon commons and by constantly trespassing on the disused railway that ran close by where I used to live. Some thirty plus years ago I moved out to Hever in Kent where I became closely involved with the county wildlife trust. Inspired by my lifelong hero Jack Hargreaves and having now retired I felt that, although I could never hope to emulate the great man, now would be the time to try and write something in a similar vein. This then is the result, a record of my own blithering’s and dithering’s around my own little corner of Kent.
